Winter Window - a poem

Thick socks and worn pajamas

Winter at bay through the panes

Dancing flames caught in reflection

Earthy stews flavor the air

Snow covered hills lying prone

Not a footprint or blemish seen

Quiet saturates the air like smoke

The restfulness unnervingly calming

The hawks search longingly

No shadow breaks the glare

The world is at rest

Like an exhausted lover
